Wichita State looking into women’s basketball transfers
I have always been a let's put all our cards on the table and let the chips fall where they may and where they should. However, I understand the litigious nature of things in modern society and I understand Jody lawyered up pretty aggressively which is her right. There could be other motivations and factors involved in the decision to retain Jody that aren't readily apparent to a small-timer like me.
Or perhaps there isn't anything to this, there never was, there never will be, and all we have is a bunch of kids not cut out to play here with over-zealous parents blinded by only looking out for their kids. It amazes me that hardly anybody here even gives that possibility a thought.

I think there are more of us that believe in this possibility than you may realize. We're just the quieter percentage. :)
"You Don't Have to Play a Perfect Game. Your Best is Good Enough."
What I find amusing is that when it was announced that Sherz would do an investigation (aka listening tour) that many posters were praising Sherz for her independence and lack of bias and they were quite certain that Bardo and Sherz would get to the bottom of the mess (what we later found out was that was their code words for Adams getting fired). However, now that it's over we're seeing all kinds of wild speculation why Bardo and Sherz are overlooking the abusive practices so that they can retain a winning women's basketball coach. Apparently they are convinced that Bardo as President of the University wants a win-at-all-cost athletic program. That's kind of funny because it wasn't that long ago that there was all kind of speculation on this forum that Bardo was not supportive of athletics and would de-emphasize when given the opportunity.
Why would Bardo and Sherz risk their credibility, their reputations, and even their jobs to keep a winning women's basketball program? Let's be honest the benefits to WSU of having a winning women's basketball program are marginal. It is not a money maker for the athletic program. The publicity and media exposure for the university of having a winning women's program is at best marginal and probably closer to negligible. So these individuals really expect us to believe that Bardo is going to take these risks for a winning women's basketball program? That's a hard one for me to believe.
I do not know Bardo personally, but he strikes me as an extremely intelligent person. There has been no information posted in this forum or elsewhere that I am aware of that would cause me to question the character and integrity of Mr. Bardo. I do know a couple of people that have had extensive dealings with him on a professional level since he has been president and both are extremely impressed with him and have nothing negative to say about the man.
At this point I am going to take Bardo at his word and that the review of the program was fair and with merit. None of the wild speculations and comments posted on this board give me reason to think otherwise. Maybe, just maybe, the conclusions reached by Bardo and Sherz were indeed the result of a fair and unbiased investigation.

I don't think they would and I personally do not think that was a significant factor in the decision that was made. Nor do I think Julie Scherz was a particularly key figure in the decision that was made.
"and all we have is a bunch of kids not cut out to play here"
So, VOTS, if these kids are not cut out to play here, it must be because HCJA is the most unlucky coach around and got "fooled" 20 plus times that a student athlete was cut out for the program, when they actually weren't. Is that what you are thinking?

"all we have is a bunch of kids not cut out to play here".....please explain how Dap fits that category? please explain how Aly fits that category? please explain how over 20 players fit that category? A little bit more details to support your viewpoint would be appreciated.

I havent heard them in any of the complaints posted here or in the media. So my comments aren't directed at them. However, I mean playing for a coach that expects what this staff expects and does what it does to get the best out their players in order to play at the level this team has. Look at Iowa State - a successful women's program with many players there who left before their careers are over. Bill Fennelly isn't easy for everyone to play for. So when I say "cut out to play here", I mean based on the demands it takes physically, time-wise, and the consequences of not obeying certain rules as they pertain to academics and other things that may require disciplinary actions. And I'm not talking about actions that are inappropriate or in violation of anything (like has been accused) - I've never seen that. Just the tough love approach for doing wrong. It's not for everyone.

I really don't read the paper because it seems they have given this more time than coverage of the team throughout the season. But I realize now you are probably referring to Michaela and Moriah's mother being quoted? Yes, I read the link pasted here.

vots - for speaking out so strongly against the players and their parents then to state you haven't read the paper I'm confused how you are able to issue a informed opinion. the four players had allegations of mental and physical abuse and mentioned NCAA violations, I don't think anyone mentioned academic or disciplinary problems with any of these players. Please support this argument. If you know something regarding those two issues then that would be enough reason of why the "investigation" didn't reveal anything. Were Dap and Aly in academic or discipinary problems? These are starters on our championship team.

Well, there's a swing for the fences on a pitch in the dirt.
Scherz has a PhD in communications. Try in your wildest imagination to feature a person with that type of background not preparing a written report. There was no investigation. There was a listening tour.
Did Scherz get to meet with players one-on-one? No. Lawyers for Adams were present during all of the interviews.
Why did Adams insist on having her lawyers present for the interviews? How is she in a position to stipulate how the University does an "independent investigation"? In what universe does the lawyer for theaccused get to sit in on the interviews with the witnesses and accusers?
There were allegations of a problem with WBB. Many allegations. Over half the players Adams recruited had left the program. Every program loses players, but that's way out on the right end of the bell curve. Either Adams is incredibly unlucky, incredibly inept at evaluating recruits, or maybe she's just an a-hole that very few people want to play for after they see what she's lkike once they've made a commitment.
When someone attempts to find out what's really going on, they don't tie the hands of the people in charge of doing the investigation. WSU did not investigate the complaints against Adams, they listened to them.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades. We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I honestly don't know what their academic situations were. But I can tell you I have pretty good pipelines to both sides without reading the paper. And again, like when we went through this a month ago, it's best not to jump from people registering complaints to coaches automatically being guilty.

Without specifics then you are not anymore creditable than the people that you criticize. At least the parents and players know and experienced what they are referring to and have given specifics. Dap and Aly do not deserve your criticizm, they were outstanding representations of our program and will be missed immensely and from what both young ladies have expressed loved the Wichita State and did not want to leave. For both players to give up their most rewarding years and to give up the records that they have broken these girls are giving up a lot and in my book that shouts volumes. Actions speak louder than words.
